On Facebook a few years ago, I encountered two posts from “Hope for the Broken-Hearted”. It feels like a good fit for where I am today.
One was a “Prayer of Release” in which the supplicant releases burdens and control to God, requests the promised peace of God, and thanks God for the subsequent protection and sustaining peace. The Bible clearly calls us to humble ourselves before God and to cast our cares on Him in 1 Peter 5:6-7. Philippians 4:6-7 gives us the rest of the mandate that results in the peace of God that surpasses human understanding:
Be careful for nothing; but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God. And the peace of God, which passes all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.
The second post from “Hope for the Broken Hearted” is a poster with the message that “Where you are today is no accident. God is using the situation you are in right now to shape you and prepare you for the place He wants to bring you into tomorrow.” Lacking the faith to follow and rejoice in Christ’s plan prevents us from living the abundant life (Eph. 3:20, 2 Cor. 9:8) that our Savior planned for us all along. Lacking the faith to step out of merely human reactions into the peace that passes understanding restrains us from the rest so often guaranteed by God to His children (Phil. 4:6, Matt. 11:28).
Trust God to accomplish in you all that He created you to be.
