The Lord Is My Help
“I will lift up mine eyes unto the hills, from whence cometh my help.
My help comes from the LORD, which made heaven and earth.
He will not suffer thy foot to be moved. He that keeps thee will not slumber.
Behold, He that keeps Israel shall neither slumber nor sleep.
The LORD is thy keeper. The LORD is thy shade upon thy right hand.
The sun shall not smite thee by day, nor the moon by night.
The LORD shall preserve thee from all evil. He shall preserve thy soul.
The LORD shall preserve thy going out and thy coming in from this time forth, and even for evermore” (Psalm 121:1-8).
God has used Psalm 121 to meet my need of strengthening comfort this week as we finish up two escrows and get ready to move from our home of thirty years into a new house in a different state next week. We have lived in Susanville for almost forty-five years, having moved here shortly after we were married. We bore and raised three children, went to school, and completed our careers here.
God has stretched us a great deal with the selling/buying process and there have been times we wondered if we were really going the right direction with this move. But God continued to give us peace about it even in the middle of the ups and downs of all this just as He has throughout our lives before and just as He will as we go forward. With the hymnist we can truly say this about our time in Susanville, “God led me all the way.”
